Goole Cadets claim Academic Awards
2009-05-27

Three Cadets from Goole Air Cadets have recently qualified for the BTEC Certificate in Aviation Studies, worth the equivalent of 2 GCSE’s.  Cadet Flight Sergeants Matthew Hillam (17) and Olivia Little (17) along with Instructor Cadet Sergeant Christopher Wade (19) all recently completed their Staff Part 1 training at the Squadron to qualify for the awards.

The cadets have spent the last 3 years studying various aviation related subjects during their time at Cadets.  The certificate recognises the academic achievements of the cadets who have taken and passed at least 7 exams to gain this award.

Flight Sergeant Hilam said “It’s great.  By simply being a cadet I have managed to gain a BTEC worth 2 GCSEs”.  The BTEC in Aviation Studies is just one of the many BTECs available to cadets, which require little or no additional work other than the standard cadet program to achieve and are all available at no additional cost to the cadets.

Goole Squadron is one of many Squadrons around the country which are part of the Air Training Corps. a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17, or over 20 for staff.  Air Cadets offers a wide range of academic and practical qualifications to both its cadets and staff.  If you are interested in finding out more about Goole Air Cadets visit us at www.gooleaircadets.co.uk, or visit the TA Centre, Pasture Road, Goole on a Wednesday or Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
