Milestone for Mirfield’s Mark
2010-03-25
How Far would you go to raise money? This year Flight Sergeant (ATC) Mark Andrews from 868 (Mirfield) Squadron, Air Training Corps, South and West Yorkshire Wing, will cycle 411 miles over seven days from Bradford to Hamm in Germany - and back! This represents a personal challenge for Mark as he has cycled no more than 20 miles on a bike and that was in his teens.
Mark will be joined by 20 other volunteers and will undertake this challenge beginning on the 9th May; the last time Mark cycled was over 30 years ago, so this is a personal best for him. Mark is busy asking for sponsors as part of the funds raised go towards projects in 2010 for disabled youngsters supported by Bradford Council and part will also go to the target fund of £70,000 for a minibus and medical equipment for injured troops who are returning from Afghanistan via the Help for Heroes charity.
The one thing that Mark is used to though, is raising money for others. Since 1968 he has involved himself in a number of charities including Blue Peter appeals when younger and later on RAF appeals as well as general fundraising initiatives.

So far Mark has contributed towards raising well over £1million which is a fantastic achievement. Mark would like to ask for your support, for this latest venture if you would like to donate please e-mail him at sue_markandrews@msn.com or via mobile: 077855 490 059
