2010-04-28
During Easter, CWO Ben Bridge, Cpl Partovi and Cdt Leighton from 1224 (Wharfedale) and Cpl Chris Pagdin from 23 (South Elmsall) Sqn joined over 80 cadets at the National Air Cadet Marching Band camp at Fort Blockhouse in Portsmouth. Instruction was provided by ACO personnel as well as top Royal Marine Musicians. The cadets played musical pieces such as the RAF March Past, Aces High, The Battle of Britain March and Hymn to the Fallen.
On Tuesday, the band formed up outside the Officers Mess at Fort Blockhouse and played for HMS Ark Royal as she left Portsmouth to lead a series of multinational exercises in the North and West Atlantic.
On Thursday, the band played at the RAF Museum at Hendon, North London in front of Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Ian Stewart, RAF. Part of the parade is available on youtube. Search Air Cadet Organisation Marching Band or use this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVmE3OKvq14
On Friday the final selection process for the Cadet 150 Parade in July was announced. All four cadets have successfully been awarded a place and will return to Fort Blockhouse in early July for intense preparation for the Cadet 150 performance at Horseguards Parade, London and then have an invitation to the Royal Garden Party.
Other North Region Cadets were also selected for the National Marching Band.
