Air Cadets from all over South and West Yorkshire recently teamed up for the North Region Inter Wing Athletics competition. The competition is open to all Air Cadets Wings within North Region, an area which extends from the Humber in the east, the Mersey in the west and up to the Scottish boarders.
The best cadets from South and West Yorkshire were selected for the competition. They were collected early in the morning and travelled to Shildon Stadium, in CountyDurham, for the event.
The Wing did well in a number of the events, with a number of cadets gaining medals. However by the end of the day, the Wing was placed 5th overall in the competition, despite a 2nd and 3rd in the Junior and Senior Girls competitions.
Pilot Officer V Docherty said “The Wing did well. They faced a lot of tough competition on the day, but still gave it their all”. Cadet Warrant Officer Hillam, one of the Wing team said “We gave it our best on the day, but the other teams were just that little bit better. There is always next year”
