Top Award for Mark!
2010-06-19

2008 (Bawtry) Squadron was recently visited by Sqn Ldr Trevor Souter, Chief of Staff (COS) – South & West Yorkshire Wing, to formally welcome the new OIC, WO (ATC) Iain Kirk and to introduce him to the cadets and staff.
As part of the visit on the evening Sqn Ldr Souter spoke to many cadets and staff about the great things happening at the squadron and ACO, which included the DofE Award Scheme, flying opportunities and upcoming annual and RIAT camps fast approaching for cadets to enjoy.

During final parade there was a surprise for one member of the staff team as Sqn Ldr Souter proceeded to present Civilian Instructor Mark Harbon with the Commandant's Commendation for Meritorious Service Award. This was formally presented to Mark for his extended and loyal service to the squadron with lots of hard work put in as a cadet Warrant Officer and current dedication as a Civilian Instructor.
When asked about how he felt about the award, Mark commented, "I am proud to have received such an award – what a surprise! It goes to show that hard work and loyalty is something that is rewarded greatly within the air training corps."
WO (ATC) Iain Kirk added, "Mark is truly a great role model for the cadets at the squadron. His dedication, motivation and overall contribution to the Air Cadets as a CI is second to none. Congratulations Mark, keep up the hard work."
